Love Fund for Children
There are many worthy charities in Kansas City, but one of them really tugs at our hearts. The Love Fund for Children has helped more than 78,000 local children since 1982 with needs that vary from clothing and eyeglasses to tutoring and counseling. The organization is often the last resource for needy kids who can’t secure federal or state funding. Because it covers a wide umbrella of goods and services, it can help kids like Bernie R., who was learning to break through anger issues with a saxophone the Love Fund for Children rented for him, and Janelle P., who couldn’t afford the travel expenses to get to a DECA conference to pursue her bright future in marketing, management and entrepreneurship. The Love Fund for Children believes that every child has an undeniable right to a certain level of care, contentment and comfort, and this organization does anything and everything it can to make sure they get it.
The Love Fund for Children is a not-for-profit corporation sponsored by WDAF-TV Fox 4, under the direction of a 20-member board of directors, full-time executive director and a volunteer Love Fund League. It is supported entirely by individual and corporate contributions, as well as organizations like ours that designate the Love Fund for Children a recipient of fundraising efforts.
The Love Fund for Children started with $1,200 collected from Fox 4 employees almost 30 years ago, and today, through various fundraisers and donations, it operates with a $300,000 annual budget. KCH&G’s Boulevard of Dreams team is proud to be affiliated with this charity for the third time.
